SOME PICTOGRAMS TO TALK ABOUT SCIENCE
A NEW WAY OF ITERPRETING SCIENCE THROUGH IMAGES

Valentina Rizzo, in collaboration with: Atelier, Research Center for Conceptual Anthropology and SciVis, Scientific Visualization Unit, IFC - CNR of Pisa, IT.

Is it still possible to rediscover that fascination as the ancients had in front of the forces and forms of nature when reality has been so sophisticatedly probed today? It would be enough to think of a particle of light that penetrates a pigment to be able to say that the magic is already all in this encounter, in the green of a leaf that we hold in our hand, yet we do not realize it, because we do not see it, or we can not even imagine it.

This book is a journey into the matter to discover its encounter with energy. More precisely, I developed a symbolic language to express the path of energy in the natural world, translating the biochemical processes with pictograms.

Here pictograms become an effective tool for the visualization of complex concepts, facilitating their memorization.
